I love Facebook. I am on it more for more hours a week than I can even begin to count, and I never really thought I was in "danger". But according to Humberg's Data Protection Agency in Germany, Facebook's new feature where it automatically tags you in other people's pictures is a huge invasion of privacy. I honestly thought it was really cool that I could skip going through and tagging all my pictures and then laugh at the tags that Facebook mixed up with other friends. However, according to an article in Forbes
Magazine researchers at Carnegie Mellon University they "were able to match Facebook users with their pictures on otherwise anonymous Match.com accounts. The researchers also had signifacnt success taking pictures of experimental subjects and matching them on their Facebook profiles." It's creepy that this awesome and convenient feature can also make give people easy access to my personal information. Is the convenience of this new Facebook feature worth the risk?
Watch this video from ABC's Nightline to learn all about the feature and the legal issues it is facing.
